The Season Finale!

June 2nd is knocking at the door and I will be headed back to the States real soon! Another bittersweet moment: hating to leave Italy, but my heart longs for the American way of life!   It's been a blast and Italy has treated me well! I must say it was all beneficial in all areas:
physically: walking 4-6 miles on average will help you loose a few pounds
spiritually: I experienced several moving moments while touring several cathedrals/basilicas and learning about their historical background
mentally: truly a growing up experience, #1 home-body right here !! ;) I was able to escape the norm and do some soul searching

Bonded with some pretty nice and adventurous people and along with the exposure to the Italian culture, college credit is always a plus!! :)

But, it's currently 6:35 AM and we head for Milan in a few hours! This will probably be my last post in Italy so I would like to thank all of my blog followers for supporting me! To my family and friends that constantly sent love from many miles away!! You all are truly a blessing! Well, to all, be blessed!!

  Arrivederci Florence!!!

As always!!

A Piece of Pisa!!

We traveled to Pisa today and had a chance to visit the Leaning Tower !! Oh yes, it's leaning and about 16 ft from its original center point!

I attempted to take the famous " I'm holding up the leaning tower" picture but they all look like Michael Jackson Thriller shots !!! Lol

The Baptistry and the cathedral which are both doing there own little lean! It's said that due to the area being surrounded by bodies of water, the soil is very soft and causes the shifting in the structures.

Snap shots:
*say cheese

*just a bit of the city

Fun Full Hiking Trip!!

What a long day it's been!! We started at the Baptistry of the Santa Maria basilica and discussed some history about the structure and design. I took a quick snap shot of the doors that incorporated various bible stories on them!

Next stop was the Piazza Della Signoria! Beautiful area to just relax and enjoy the scenery!

Next door to the piazza was the Uffizi Galleria where the work of famous ninja turtles resides!! ;)

*Donatello

*Michelangelo

After seeing the galleria, we walked across the Arno River via the Pointe Vecchio which is famous for being the only bridge preserved during war!

Snap shot!

So again, more exploring! Up on a mountain side, we climbed to another church that we quite don't know the name!

*steps, steps, and more steps

Lets kick it off!!! Visit to The Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore

Lets talk the renaissance, the rebirth period of art! The cathedral was huge and another cardio burn.

463 steps to the to to experience this view!!!! Bittersweet moment!! The view was great but the legs were burning ;)

Next stop.... The Laurentain Library in Florence is a work  that was constructed around 1525. Another grand piece of work incorporating the false prospective concept!

*entrance was designed by Michelangelo

The wood carvings that make up the ceiling are the same as the decorative design of the floor.

Mechanism used to print books

The courtyard of the library

Touring the Leonardo Da Vinci museum was nice! A lot of his designs were on display that we could actually interact with!

Your first Boflex machine :)

Afternoon session: touring of another church that we stumbled across

Well, that's it for today!!
