Out with a BANG: Last Day of Rome!!

Up bright and early and we are finally getting to tour Vatican City! We went in St. Peter's Basilica which they began constructing around 1506 and in the location where St. Peter is said to be crucified. Also, the bones of St. Peter are supposedly buried underneath the basilica. The basilica is a grand design created by a combination of architects such as Michelangelo, Bernini, etc. It was really nice but sooooo crowded!!

*famous original sculpture of Mary holding Christ in her arms created by Michelangelo

So, I just paid for my workout today!! This is my ticket in order for me to climb 551 steps to the top of the basilica!

oh yea!!! The tip top point of the dome in the following picture!!

After climbing about 300 + steps, we where able to look from the base of the dome onto a Mass held by the Pope.

***more steps!!

** I made it and oh what a view of Rome!!

* a city of 3 million

Actually having fun coming down the stairs.... Now going up, that's a different story!! :)
*Photo bombers are the worst!!

* a mini break on the roof of the Basillaca, but a bittersweet moment.... I still have about 260 steps to conquer!!

*on then roof of St. Peter's church

Alright!! All smiles after completing 551 steps both ways and after our entire group photo bombed some random guys picture!! ;)

After more walking and a bite to eat, off to the rooms for some packing and hang time!

Arrivedercia Roma!! But before I leave, a nice plate of fettuccine bolognese was great!

Blog you later,
Triple1love
