Oh what a Venezia Day!!

6:50 am wake up call!!! Up and ready and headed out to Venice, Italy! With about an hour train ride, I spent time reading BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND by Joyce Myers ... Really good read.. Highly recommend that you read it! 

Touched down in the city around 9:30 am and currently (9:00 pm) waiting for the train to depart back to Vicenza !! W

** oh what of day full of adventure and gelato ( Italian ice cream) 

Well the day started off to a good start with a nice history lesson about the city and the Basilica di San Marco or St. Mark's Cathedral! 

Built around 830, the robust structure depicted both heaven and earth. The lower walls of the church gave off a heavy connotation by the grey marble of the huge columns similar to that heavy filling things of this world may bring. While the ceilings are covered in gold leaf based art, the light heavenly feeling is approached as one leaves the world and enters the heavenly realm. I thought it was pretty interesting how much thought was put into the design of the church and how awesome it is to be in The church of one of the apostles that walked with Jesus Christ! #St.MarkRocks :) 

Venice was filled with tourist! So it was pretty cool seeing people from all over the world and hearing the different languages as we toured the city!!  

A city surrounded by water ... No need for cars so off everyone went on foot or boat! 

Just some shots around the city! It was a gloomy day with the rain showers, but we still enjoyed the day! 

** The Pointe di Rialto, the most famous bridge in Venice that crosses the Grand Canal. Taking approximately three years to build, who would have ever guessed that thousands of tree stumps were used as the foundation of this bridge. 

***guess who is slowly opening up to Italian food... You guessed it ... I am!! :) 

*authentic Italian ravioli and meat sauce.... Lol oh yea Chef Boyardee has nothing on this!! :)  

It was really good but could not finish it all!! :) 

After filling our tummies, we headed out for more adventure throughout the city and we lucked up on free wifi ... Oh what a great wonder !!! ;) it's pretty hard to come across free wifi in Italy without spending 4-6 euros for only a few hours! *moment of appreciation* 

After more walking and a great cone of cookies and cream gelato, we all gathered back together 

To head back to Vicenza... Arriverderci Venice, we shall meet again in a couple of days!!! Until then....
